Matt Engler - the newest member of The Absentees - started playing guitar in 1986 after the Chicago Bears won the Super Bowl, which leads me to believe that these events are somehow related.
His early influences include Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Metallica, while his later influences include Joe Satriani, Carlos Santana, Steely Dan, funk music in general, and pretty much anything except country music.
Matt previously played in such bands as Groove Spoon, Moses Sole, Jack's Brains, and Voodoo Creek.
Matt plays P.R.S. and Gibson Les Paul guitars and uses Marshall amplifiers.
Matt grew up in Western Springs, Illinois and currently resides in Downers Grove, Illinois and is - listen up, ladies - SINGLE. |
